Finally in Roma...

Wow, that was quite the trip. I am here and I am safe in the Villa. The flight was on time and perfect, but the bags took about an hour to get to us. I caught the last train into the city and met Arton. He is a newly baptized member of the church and is so nice. I was so happy to see him after a bit of a scary train ride in the middle of the night. The station was dark and full of graffiti. He is a body builder and was my body guard for the walk to the villa. He also carried my bags the whole 15 minute walk.

I was so excited to see a little gelato place on the corner by the villa, and it looked open (people were walking out with some). However, by the time we got there they were closing the doors and mopping the floors. I thought that would just be perfect to have my first gelato tonight. I guess I will have to wait till morning (I hear they sometimes eat it for breakfast).

So, all I have seen of Italy so far is the airport, an interesting train station and some neighborhood streets that had tons of apartment buildings and cars all around them. I'm excited to start the adventure tomorrow. President & Karen will be here in the morning (I have the whole villa to myself tonight) and we will start our adventure.

Arrivederci!

So glad you made it safe. I can't believe what a pain it was. At least it was only you and not your whole family. That really would've been killer! Can't wait for more posts. Eat extra gelato and pastries for me!
By the way...I saw Andrew yesterday and asked him how they were surviving and his exact words were "The food's not as good, but everything else is more fun." Guess I know who has the iron fist in the fam!
