Freedom Festival balloons...

Well, it happened again this year. Every couple of years we are late for the balloons. We go every year, on July 3rd. We sit on the grass and watch all of the balloons inflate from nothing and then all take off one-by-one. But, this year, like some others in the past, we got there just as the last two were taking off. You really have to arrive by about 6:15 to see everything. We were there at 6:45 this morning. I always think in the morning, "Oh, I don't think they really start lifting off until 7:00." That's where we went wrong this morning. That, and the fact that we now have two teenagers in the house that aren't too keen on waking up at 5:45 a.m.

We at least got to see two balloons take off and all of the balloons covering the sky...that is still worth the effort.

There is a big building under construction across the street. we thought it was funny that all of these guys were lined up on the top floor balcony watching the balloons.

We usually go to Magleby's Fresh in Provo, but I think that closed down this year (not verified, but I think I heard that somewhere). So, we went to the Kneaders, right where the balloons take off. We sat outside and ate breakfast while watching the balloons fly over us.

What a wonderful tradition for our family (even when we are late and the kids are grumpy). Now we are off for our next tradition...saving spots for the big parade! Wish us luck.
