Day 6, part 3: Pisa...

My sister Karen said, earlier in the week, "You should see the Leaning Tower of Pisa at night, it is really gorgeous all lit up." So, we didn't worry too much about time after we left the Cinque Terre and La Spezia. Even though we had a pretty long drive home to Rome, we thought it would be fine to take our time a little and visit Pisa in the dark.

Karen forgot to mention that they turned off the lights in December to save money (she actually denies knowing about that). Tourists (except for us) usually don't visit in the winter. So funny. Taking these pictures took every single camera setting I could think of. They still don't look great, but considering it was pitch black, it wasn't bad.

After visiting the Tower of Pisa, we went to a pizza place right there to eat outside (finally warm enough). We thought it would be fun eating pizza in Pisa, with a view of the tower. We had a good time, despite the fact that the pizza was terrible! Very touristy place. The kids didn't seem to mind. It was a great view.

After dinner, we drove back home to Rome. We hit an accident and major traffic in Florence, so it took us a very long time. We got home about 1:30 a.m. We were so proud with how much we had accomplished in one day and we really enjoyed our week up north!
